Terms of Use
The rules for using Pyron. They are also the licence agreement (EULA) for the purposes of the App Store.
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This is an English translation of the German original. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.
What this is about
These terms apply between you and Neurolytix GmbH, Hauptstraße 127, 68259 Mannheim (hereinafter “we”) to the use of the Pyron app and the pyron.app website. By creating an account, you agree to them.
How we handle your data is not set out here but in the Privacy Policy. It forms part of this agreement.
What you may do with the app
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Pyron on Apple devices that you own or control — for private purposes and in accordance with the Usage Rules of the App Store. The app is licensed to you, not sold. All rights to the app, to the name Pyron, and to the graphics, badges and texts remain with us.
In particular, you may not:
- reverse engineer or decompile the app or otherwise attempt to reconstruct its source code, except where the law expressly permits this
- rent out, lend, resell or sublicense the app
- query our servers in an automated way, overload them or circumvent security measures
Account and age
You need an account for Pyron. Provide accurate information when doing so and keep your password secret. One account per person is permitted.
Pyron is rated for ages 13 and up. If you are younger than 16, you may only use Pyron with the consent of your parents or legal guardians — this follows from Art. 8 GDPR, because we may only process your step data with consent.
We do not ask for a date of birth when you register and therefore do not check your age. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete it.
Play fair
Pyron is a competition. It only works as long as the numbers are real. The following is therefore prohibited:
- faking step counts — for example with shaking devices, apps that write steps to Apple Health or Health Connect, or by attaching the phone to moving objects
- running multiple accounts, or swapping, buying or selling accounts
- collusion to the detriment of other participants
- exploiting bugs in the app instead of reporting them
In the event of well-founded suspicion, we may correct scores, void individual rounds, reset rank and rating or suspend an account. In the case of serious or repeated violations, we may close the account permanently. We will tell you what we are doing and why, and you can challenge it (see Reporting and complaints).
Usernames and moderation
The only thing you write yourself in Pyron that others see is your username. It is public and can be found via the people search.
A username must not:
- insult, threaten or demean anyone, or incite hatred
- contain unlawful content, content harmful to minors or pornographic content
- use symbols of unconstitutional organisations or paraphrases of such symbols
- infringe the rights of others, in particular trademark rights and rights to a name
- pretend that you are another person, Pyron itself or one of our employees
- contain advertising or addresses of other services
How we moderate
We make this disclosure under Art. 14 of the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065):
- Automatically, we check every name when it is assigned for length, character set and uniqueness. There is no assessment of content by software — we do not use any algorithmic content filter or any automated decision-making.
- Manually, we review every report that reaches us. Measures are always decided by a human.
- Measures are, graded by severity: a request to change the name, replacing the name with a placeholder, suspending the account.
Reporting and complaints
If a username breaks the rules, report it to us. There are two ways to do this, and both lead to the same place:
- In the app: open the person's profile and tap “Report”.
- Without the app: by email to info@neurolytix.de. State the username concerned and what the violation consists of. This route is open to everyone, even if you do not use Pyron (Art. 16 DSA).
We confirm receipt, review promptly and inform you of the outcome, provided you have left an address. Anyone affected by a measure receives a statement of reasons from us (Art. 17 DSA) and can object to it within six months at the same address; we review the objection again and a human makes the decision (Art. 20 DSA). In addition, you remain free to go to court at any time.
Anyone who repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded reports may be excluded from the reporting function (Art. 23 DSA).
Points of contact under the DSA
As the single point of contact for users (Art. 12 DSA) and for the authorities of the member states, the Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (Art. 11 DSA), we designate:
Neurolytix GmbH
Hauptstraße 127, 68259 Mannheim, Germany
Email: info@neurolytix.de
Communication is possible in German and English.
The subscription
For new accounts: Pyron is free for one month. After that you need the Pyron subscription to keep using Pyron. It unlocks the whole app; there are no other purchases.
If you take out the subscription, the purchase contract is concluded with Apple or Google respectively, not with us. The store is the seller, handles billing and issues the invoice; we only receive information from it on whether a valid subscription exists for your account.
How to cancel on the iPhone
- Open iPhone Settings and tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Pyron and tap Cancel Subscription
How to cancel on Android
- Open Google Play and tap your profile picture at the top right
- Tap Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions
- Select Pyron and tap Cancel subscription
After cancelling, you can continue to use Pyron until the end of the paid period. Any unused remainder of the free trial is forfeited as soon as you take out a subscription.
Withdrawal and refunds
Because the purchase contract is concluded with Apple, withdrawal and refunds are governed by Apple's terms and not by ours. You request refunds directly from Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund a payment because we never received it.
If you are a consumer and believe you have a right against us that is not reflected here, write to us — we will help. Statutory consumer rights are not restricted by these terms.
Club and team
A club is the group you belong to. It has up to 50 members. Everyone is in exactly one club — being in two is not possible — and without a club you cannot take part in any competition.
Anyone can found a club, immediately: all you need is a name that does not exist yet. You can only join an existing club by invitation, however. The chief may invite, as may the deputies the chief appoints for this; a club cannot have more than three deputies.
You can leave your club at any time. The chief and deputies may remove you from it — nobody removes the chief, and only the chief can remove a deputy.
A team, by contrast, is not a fixed group but a line-up: five members of your club for exactly one competition. It is formed when you sign up and ends when that competition is over.
A club may enter as many teams as it likes. What they achieve counts towards the club's account — the good results as well as the bad. A team that loses costs the whole club points.
At any one time, you can be on at most three teams: one Dungeon team, one Challenge team and one Knockout team. One per type of competition, no more.
Competition and scoring
Rank, level, rating and placings are determined exclusively on our server. The value calculated there is always what counts, not what the app displays.
Steps that reach us after the end of the twelve-hour catch-up window following the close of a round are no longer included in the scoring of that round. A completed round is not corrected retrospectively — otherwise every result would remain provisional indefinitely.
A team only competes at full strength, i.e. with exactly five members. The sum of the steps of all five is scored.
If a member leaves a team during a round in progress, that round runs to its end as normal for the remaining members. The steps of the member who left count up to the time they left, but not after.
The same applies if someone leaves their club or is removed from it: they thereby also drop out of the team, and the remaining four finish the round. The place is then no longer filled — a team only has to be at full strength at the moment it starts competing.
Prizes are exclusively digital awards — titles, medals, crests, frames, XP and rating. They have no monetary value, are not transferable and cannot be paid out. Pyron is not gambling: the outcome depends solely on how much you walk.
Availability
We strive to keep the service running continuously but do not owe uninterrupted operation. Maintenance work or disruptions at our service providers or at Apple can lead to interruptions. If the service is down for an extended period, we will extend competitions in progress or not score them, whichever is fairer.
We may develop the app further, change features and discontinue individual features. We will announce significant changes in the app.
When it ends
You can delete your account yourself at any time, in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account. Details under Delete your account.
We can terminate this agreement with 30 days' notice in text form. In the event of serious violations of these terms, we can terminate without notice and suspend the account. In that case, Apple refunds any current subscription in accordance with its terms.
If we discontinue Pyron entirely, we will announce this in the app at least 30 days in advance and will end the option of taking out new subscriptions beforehand.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, in the event of injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). In the case of simple negligence, we are only liable for breach of an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely (cardinal obligation), and only up to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Otherwise, liability is excluded. Your statutory rights in respect of defects remain unaffected.
Addendum for Apple
Apple requires the following provisions for apps distributed through the App Store. In case of doubt, they take precedence over the other sections.
- This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Pyron or its content.
- Scope of the licence: The licence applies to the use of Pyron on Apple devices that you own or control, and in accordance with the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Maintenance and support are owed by us alone. Apple is not obliged to provide them.
- Warranty: Should Pyron fail to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple; Apple will then refund the purchase price to you, where applicable. Beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation whatsoever. All further claims are directed against us alone.
- Claims relating to Pyron — in particular product liability, violations of legal requirements and claims under consumer protection law — are to be addressed to us alone, not to Apple.
- Third-party rights: If anyone claims that Pyron infringes their intellectual property rights, defending and settling the claim is solely our responsibility.
- Legal compliance: You warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Our address for questions and complaints: Neurolytix GmbH, Hauptstraße 127, 68259 Mannheim, info@neurolytix.de.
- Third-party terms: You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Pyron.
- Apple as third-party beneficiary: Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and are entitled to enforce it against you once you accept it.
Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
We may change these terms if there is an objective reason for doing so — such as changes in the law, new features or requirements from Apple. We will announce changes in the app at least 30 days in advance. If you do not object before they take effect, they are deemed accepted; we will point this out to you separately in the announcement. If you object, you can terminate the agreement before they take effect.
Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remainder remains valid.
